Accuracy of Current Sensor - Worry free for Aviation Use - [Vekwei]

Usually, sensors use feedback control circuits to provide outputs proportional to the input. Compared to open-loop sensors, this closed-loop feedback design inherently provides higher performanceAccuracy of current sensorAnd linearity, as well as better temperature drift compensation and noise resistance. For open-loop sensors, temperature induced drift or any nonlinearity in the sensor can lead to errors. On the other hand, closed-loop sensors use a coil to actively drive by generating a magnetic field that is opposite to the magnetic field of the current conductor. This is a 'closed loop' that provides enhanced accuracy and saturation performance.

So which current sensor has better accuracy? It all depends on the application. The lower cost, size, and power requirements make open-loop current sensors very popular. This is somewhat offset by the fact that their sensitivity to saturation means they must be 'too large' in certain applications to avoid this problem. Closed loop current sensors are clearly the most popular applications that require the best accuracy and anti saturation capability, or are used in a wide range of extreme temperature or electrical noise environments.
