CCTV reveals China's advanced fighter jet production workshop, with a large wind tunnel that catches the eye
On September 16th, CCTV announced in its latest report that the frontline production workshops for developing advanced fighter jets such as the J-20, Y-20, and Z-20 have attracted attention.
The report released some interior scenes of the production workshop, introducing the FL-62 wind tunnel device of China's first large-scale continuous cross wind tunnel, and the production process of Yun-20.The Y-20 transport aircraft, codenamed Kunpeng, is a heavy military transport aircraft operated by Xi'an Aircraft Industry Group in China. It is currently the largest military aircraft in China. Xifei is responsible for most of the manufacturing affairs, including final assembly, while Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, Chengdu Aircraft Corporation, Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation, Harbin Aircraft Corporation, and Shanghai Aircraft Corporation also participate in the components. The Yun-20 adopts a conventional layout in terms of aerodynamic shape, with a T-shaped tail wing and a cantilevered upper single wing with a swept leading edge. It has no wingtip and incorporates a supercritical wing design. The J-20, also known as the J-20 or Weilong, is a fifth generation fighter jet produced by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group and equipped for the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force. It adopts a single seat, twin engine, duck shaped aerodynamic layout design and is designed by Yang Wei from Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute as the chief designer. The J-20 was unveiled for the first time at the 11th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in November 2016 and displayed its dual flight. On July 30, 2017, three J-20 fighter jets were unveiled for the first time in combat during a military parade celebrating the 90th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army. The J-20 is the world's third fifth generation stealth fighter to enter mass production, following the F-22 and F-35.In addition, China's new generation long-range strategic bomber, the H-20, has been receiving great attention from the outside world. This type of bomber is believed to form a strong pillar of China's sea, land, and air strategic nuclear triangle, changing the military balance around China. However, this fighter jet, which is highly sought after by Chinese military enthusiasts and closely monitored by foreign observers, has long been a "divine dragon with no tail", and can only obtain a relatively vague figure through the examination and analysis of some frequently revealed clues. Many Chinese military enthusiasts believe that the data of the H-20 will be close to the level of the B-2, with a maximum range of around 12000 kilometers. According to Pentagon estimates, the cruising range of the H-20 can exceed 8500 kilometers.China has developed and put into service the J-20 stealth fighter, Y-20 large transport aircraft, and Z-20 general-purpose helicopter. The H-20 is considered a new member of the Chinese military's "20 family", but it is still half covered by the pipa to this day.Due to the fact that this bomber, which has both nuclear and conventional capabilities, will be a part of China's "nuclear deterrence", even after being put into service, it is unlikely to make a big public appearance. On August 31st, Chinese Air Force spokesperson Shen Jinke revealed that the Chinese Air Force has historically crossed the threshold of a strategic air force, attracting high attention from the outside world. Many voices believe that this means that the H-20 is likely to make its debut soon.
