According to the introduction, Rainbow 6 is a large, high-altitude, high-speed, long endurance, multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle system. Adopting a conventional high aspect ratio aerodynamic layout, it has outstanding advantages such as high flight altitude, strong load capacity, long endurance, and long range. The system has high reliability and strong load scalability.

Rainbow 6 is suitable for high-altitude reconnaissance and strike, maritime anti submarine and patrol surveillance, remote warning and detection, close range air support and other combat tasks. At the same time, it can effectively achieve manned/unmanned collaborative combat in future combat environments, accelerating the promotion of information and intelligent combat.

This aircraft has outstanding advantages such as high flight altitude and fast flight speed, which can effectively avoid the threat of ground anti-aircraft fire. The system has strong survivability and can perform reconnaissance, surveillance, tracking, and strike tasks continuously for a long time under weak adversarial conditions or in a certain level of adversarial warfare.

As the largest unmanned aerial vehicle platform in China in terms of takeoff weight, the Caihong-6 also has the ability to carry various payloads such as electro-optical, SAR, early warning radar, electronic reconnaissance, air to ground missiles, air to ground bombs, anti radiation missiles, and small and medium-sized patrol missiles. At the same time, due to the use of turbofan engines, it has a long endurance and can serve as a long-term airborne platform to perform various military and civilian tasks.
