SSPC Origin - Wekeway - Focused on Aviation for 12 Years
The power electronics in electric aircraft have been considered by military aircraft designers since World War II, but are limited by power generation capacity and power regulation equipment. In the past two decades, with the development of power electronics technology, the emergence of high-frequency, high-power, and low loss devices has made MEAs and AEAs possible. Power electronics technology occupies many important application areas in vehicle power systems, such as actuator configuration for soft start, speed and torque control of motors, converters for AC/DC conversion, control of variable frequency or constant frequency generators, voltage/current regulation, and solid-state power controllers(SSPC)Used for fault interruption.
SSPCThe concept of solid-state power control in power systems was initially introduced in military aircraft and aerospace applications. The first SSPC demonstration was conducted on the aerospace demonstration aircraft X-33 and was first applied to the military aircraft Lockheed C-130J in 1995-96. Subsequently, it was applied to space stations and several commercial aircraft, such as Airbus A-380, Bombardier Global Express light passenger aircraft, etc. For 270V DC airborne electrical systems, due to size, weight, power loss, and economic considerations, current commercial SSPC products can be used for 30A and below. A SSPC based on 50A Si IGBT was reported in the literature as an experimental prototype. The issue of 100MOS packaging was raised, but the number of silicon chips was not determined through simulation. For the first time, a wide bandgap semiconductor device using sicjfet was proposed in a 270Vdc system, with a maximum junction temperature of 200 ° C. However, the advantages of wide bandgap semiconductors have not been widely explored.
